1 The programme is also suitable for mixed anxiety and depression, when anxiety symptoms are your primary concern. This programme may be provided as a form of independent self-help, guided self-help or as an adjunct to more conventional therapies.

2 While this programme is therapeutic, it is not a substitute for professional individual or group cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) or other forms of psychological therapy. Self-help approaches such as this will suit some people more than others. No single approach is right for everyone and, in common with other effective treatment approaches, this programme requires concentration and effort to complete.

3 If you are unsure about whether this programme will suit you, please discuss your plans with a qualified health professional. This programme is unlikely to suit you if you are troubled by thoughts of harming yourself, significant feelings of hopelessness or despair or if you currently lack the time or concentration required to undertake the programme. If this should be the case, please discuss treatment options with a qualified health professional as soon as possible.

4 Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT), the English (UK) initiative to improve the availability of talking treatments for common mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. An IAPT group exists in Wales, albeit with a different mandate and funding arrangements.
