Unhelpful ideas
Each of us starts to form ideas and impressions about the world from a very young age - maybe even before we're born. Research has shown that a foetus only 24 weeks old can respond to sound. 1
We're constantly laying down and updating information about our maps (or we should be!) although we do most of our map-making before the age of seven.
Ideas firm up into beliefs, and these beliefs guide what we notice and pay attention to, so we that tend to notice the things that agree with our beliefs. Try this now - complete the following sentences:
