Relaxation
For much of the time our muscles are in a state of tension - which is quite normal. However, this tension is much greater and lasts longer when we're anxious.
Many people with anxiety feel tired during the day, or suffer from muscular tension, aches and pains. Tension in the legs, chest and neck is very common.
This is due to the energy used by our muscles as they tighten and tense up.
In this section we'll learn more about physical and psychological relaxation.
Physical relaxation involves the gradual easing of the tension in our muscles. Psychological relaxation involves quietening our minds.
Take care if you have any physical or breathing problems. Best to be checked over by a doctor before you start relaxation or breathing exercises. |
