Relaxation isn't a 'quick fix'
The effects of relaxation get stronger over time, so don’t be disappointed if you don’t get a quick result!
Learning to relax takes time – we may be talking weeks and months, not hours and days.
Remember not to use relaxation exercises as a way of avoiding the things you’re afraid of - at some point, overcoming anxiety means facing up to our fears!
As we've already seen, anxiety affects both our mind (thoughts) and our body (physical responses).
So learning to manage the symptoms of anxiety more effectively involves both mental and physical exercises.
By relaxing our bodies, our minds will start to become more calm, and by relaxing our minds, our bodies will also start to become calmer.
