Why we might neglect our problems
When we’re anxious, even everyday tasks can become very demanding.
Things we would normally take in our stride can become major challenges for us, which in turn can make us more anxious and reduce our self-esteem.
When we're anxious, we tend to neglect the important problems which really must be done. We do this for two reasons:
- When we're anxious, we think differently. our ability to concentrate is reduced, and we become preoccupied with the things we're afraid of, and with our anxiety symptoms.
- Our ability to deal with stress is lowered, and it's tempting to avoid the things we find challenging or stressful.
