anxiety problem solving page 3

Another vicious circle...

What happens when we don't deal with our problems?

Sometimes, if we don't deal with a problem it will go away, but more often it just grows bigger. Either other problems gather, so we end up with more to do, or existing problems become more complicated to deal with.

Then we start to worry more about the problem. Because we're worrying we delay, time passes, and the problem continues to grow.

We become more stressed and more anxious, and we feel less able to do anything about it.

That’s why it’s important to fix the things we might have been putting off sooner rather than later.

But it's not all doom and gloom - when we start to do things, however small they might be, we start to feel more able and more competent. Just as in the 'vicious circle' on the previous page, we can start a 'virtuous circle.'
